About my music
When I was 7, I used to try and teach myself little songs on the piano trying to copy my older brothers. My parents suggested I should start taking piano lessons and I've never looked back!
I learnt classical piano in Tasmania, completing my classical AMusA diploma under the wing of Lyn Louden. I then studied at the Conservatorium of Music in Hobart in the Contemporary music division, successfully obtaining a double degree in BMus/LLB (Hons). A contemporary twist can be found in my compositions but I have always been a Classical Tasmanian girl at heart. Having a background in both Classical and Contemporary piano, I understand that music is not always one size fits all but something unique to each individual person.
I started my piano teaching business in 2007 while studying at University. Lessons involved anything from playing from sheet music, composing adaptations appropriate to the student, or creating musical board games for younger kids. Since 2013 I have worked full time in Canberra, Hobart and now Sydney in the 'Intellectual Property Law' area; and have continued to teach piano from ages 5 through to mature age students in the evenings.
I have experience teaching AMEB syllabuses with positive results.
